"Let the Fans Decide" One question which I am asked quite often is why the site does not provide reviews and rankings of Sly & the Family Stone albums, so as to help new fans decide which albums they should buy. I have felt from the beginning that this site should be as objective as possible, without adhering to the opinions of one or a select few. So, rather than post my own reviews, I decided in April of 1996 to include a question on the guestbook signature form which asked fans which Sly & the Family Stone album was their personal favorite. I planned to then use those statistics to determine album "rankings": basically, let the people decide. Presented here are the album rankings to date; if you have not yet signed the guestbook you may cast a new vote, but be warned: the software I use to count the votes does not allow multiple votes from the same person. 1166 fans named their favorite Sly & the Family Stone album .... 1. Stand! (1969) (19.89% of votes) 2. There's A Riot Goin' On (1971) (19.04% of votes) 3. Greatest Hits (1970) (16.21% of votes) 4. Fresh (1973) (14.41% of votes) 5. Dance to the Music (1968) (13.55% of votes) 6. Anthology (1981) (9.69% of votes) 7. A Whole New Thing (1967) (1.89% of votes) 8. Life (1968) (1.72% of votes) 8. Small Talk (1974) (1.72% of votes) 9. Back on the Right Track (1979) (1.2% of votes) 10. High On You (1975) (1.02% of votes) 11. Heard Ya Missed Me, Well I'm Back (1976) (0.51% of votes) 12. Ain't But the One Way (1982) (0.0% of votes) |
